John Fulling
Guitar, Ukulele, Bass, Mandolin, Banjo, Harmonica, and more
Music is fundamental to our human experience. It’s part of our journey. As a teacher, I aim to stimulate and encourage each student to participate in their own musical development.
To stay motivated and ensure progress, we’ll establish long and short term goals, with a lesson plan, and a guided practice routine. When steady consistent practice of the lesson material becomes habit, progress will be made. And, the journey becomes more meaningful. Taking part in students’ development and accomplishments has brought me great satisfaction.
I have over 20 years’ experience playing and teaching a wide range of genres, including Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, Country, Jazz, and Classical music. I’ve played in rock, Dixieland, and bluegrass bands, pit orchestras, mainstream jazz bands and combos, and classical guitar and chamber music ensembles.
I have a Bachelor of Music, Classical Guitar Performance degree. Currently, I am studying jazz guitar and classical singing at College of Lake County. I study scat singing on my own.
Besides how to play an instrument, I also teach theory, playing-by-ear, songwriting, accompaniment, soloing, singing, and arranging.
I enjoy reading, writing, art, outdoors things, gardening, and cooking.
