Sammie Arizmendi
Sammie Arizmendi is a homegrown Waukeganite who made her stunning musical debut by singing at family parties at age three. Born into a family of musicians, she took up piano and violin at age five, and eventually studied at the Zion Conservatory of Music through high school. She graduated from Marquette University in 2013 and has been chasing her love of music ever since.
In recent days, Sammie is an instructor for Piano Power in Chicago, an accompanist for the Swedish Glee Club of Lake County, and a multi-instrumentalist for the Filipino Choir of Lake County. She previously served as the Music Director at St. Anastasia Church, where she developed the choral program and started the parish’s first Teen Choir, and has appeared in a handful of local performances both as an individual artist and in a band setting. Her current goals include spending more time with songwriting, exploring the textures of jazz music, and hitting up the performance circuit in the post-COVID world.
Sammie’s teaching style is easy-going and supportive. She strives to keep lessons fun while comprehensively covering the fundamentals. She loves fostering her students’ creativity and watching new skills click, and aims to instill a lifelong love of music in each of her students.
