Why Learn an Instrument?
It Can Help Decrease Stress
Even dedicating just a few minutes of a hectic to playing the piano can have a significant effect on your health. Studies show that playing the piano improves mental health. People who play the piano tend to experience less anxiety and depression than their nonmusical counterparts. Playing for even just a few minutes a day can improve self-esteem, make you feel more positive, and can lower your blood pressure.
It Improves Learning Abilities
University studies conducted in Georgia and Texas found significant correlations between the number of years of instrumental music instruction and academic achievement in math, science, and language arts. (University of Sarasota Study, Jeffrey Lynn Kluball; East Texas State University Study, Daryl Erick Trent)
It Enhances Your Overall Health
Taking music lessons later in life can even help slow down the aging process! A study by the University of Miami indicated that adults (even seniors) who take lessons experience increased levels of Human Growth Hormone (HgH). Therefore, this benefit is not limited to children alone. For adults, this hormone sustains higher energy levels, boosts muscle mass, and diminishes the aches and pains of old age, including osteoporosis.
It Helps Improve Your Time Management Skills
Learning to play a new instrument is a great way to solve issues with time management. Whatever song you’re working on, practice makes it perfect. As you look forward to daily practice, you learn to set aside regular time for things that matter. As you work out your scales and songs, you learn to plan for small amounts of time towards a larger goal. You learn to break down a larger project, like a song, into smaller goals, one measure and phrase at a time.
Piano can handle all of the components of music, including melody, harmony and rhythm. It can be used to teach parts to singers or instrumentalists or to provide accompaniment for practice or performance. Having basic keyboard/piano skills makes it easy to sequence parts in music recordings!
Guitar is one of the most popular and widely used instruments. The guitar is popular because it is portable, flexible, polyphonic. and approachable. The guitar’s popularity makes it an obvious choice for many who wish to learn an instrument.

Most devices are loud enough to work, but you may want to experiment ahead of time with speakers and a headset and/or headphones.

What Students Say
It has been a challenging time keeping my daughter’s brain engaged and learning in a fun way. Having her piano at hand gave her a much need break from school eLearning and screen time while exploring her creative side and learning new skills!
Parent of a Piano Student
We are so pleased with her lessons, her teacher has done an amazing job laying a great foundation for music and ensuring she understands each lesson before moving on. My daughter is learning the importance of mastery, not just “get it done move on” as well as commitment and practice, for which we are grateful.
